Vladimir grew up in Riga, studied physics, working in IT since 1982. Immigrated to U.S. in 1989 with family of four.
Elder son working as a grant writer and musician in Los Angeles.
Younger son studied physics at Columbia, did a doctorate in machine learning at Carnegie Mellon, and is a starting assistant professor at Columbia, as of 2020 (a difficult year in academics and elsewhere).
