Biographical information:

Born 1871 or 1872. Married Abram Cherlin Feb. 1, 1891, East London Synagogue, witnessed by Israel Greenberg and A. Winkel. Louis Ufland was a "general dealer."

Abram died in an accident when Ben was 12 or 13 (ca. 1903, or possibly 1906).

Mire Ufland died of pleurisy while expecting another child. (Timing unclear but this may have been after Abram's death.)

After the death of both parents, and the subsequent deaths of Harry in WWI and of Ada and Kitty in the influenza epidemic of 1918, the children were raised by their grandmother until Beryl's marriage to Chester Ward (1919). They then emigrated to Australia shortly after Beryl had gone to Australia with her husband.

Mire's brother, who lived at 122 Riverside Dr., NY, came to London and offered to take Beryl (11 years old?) back to the U.S. and to take responsibility for her education. Beryl declined, preferring to stay to help look after the family. There is a photograph showing the brother standing by his sister's grave in London. One of Louis' descendants, Harry Ufland (father Nat born ca. 1903, Manhattan), became a major film producer in Hollywood (obituary).
