Biographical information:

From Kremenchuk. Married in Ekaterinoslav. Moved to Kiev, evacuated during WWII. The city was greatly destroyed by a Soviet scorched-earth tactic. On their return to Kiev in 1947, Menachem and Bertha found that their apartment had been taken over by the local head of the KGB. They purchased a house in Yevpatoria (Crimea) and moved there in 1948. Irene Kelner has fond memories of summers spent there.
